模型屋さん文化のゆくすえ 1 -Dusk of the Japanese model shop vol.1

こどもの頃はどこの街にも模型屋がありました。私の街にも模型を扱う店は２軒ほどあり、よく通ったものです。
When I was a child, there was a model shop in all towns. There were at least two model shops in my town, and I went well.
私の街の２軒の店はそれぞれ特色があり、こども向け玩具と一緒に模型を扱っていた一軒は、いわゆるおもちゃ屋さん。店全体が華やかなイメージで誕生日やクリスマスにはプレゼントを買う大人も来ていた記憶があります。もう一軒はまさに模型屋といったつくりで、モデルガンや組み立てラジオなんかも扱ってましたが、中学や高校の兄ちゃん達が主なお客で、今思えばこじんまりした硬派な模型屋さんといった感じのお店でした。
Those two stores had a characteristic each. One was a shop of the toys. It is so-called toy store. The shop is a gorgeous feeling. At the time of birthday and Christmas, a lot of adults who bought the present to a child came. Another is a pure model shop. Because a model gun and the assembling radio were sold in the shop, the visitor of the shop had many students. It was just the feeling such as the small model shop if I thought.
私はどちらかといえば後者の模型屋さんに繁く足を運んだ記憶があります。中学くらい迄はその店で、商品を眺めの、たまに手にする小遣いでちまちまと模型を買っては作り、していたものです。大学で東京に来て就職する迄、模型からは自然と足が遠のいてしまっていたのですが、社会人になってからひょんなことで、今は無くなってしまった’さくらや’の模型コーナーを覗いた際、久々に見た模型の高い品質や種類の多さに驚いてしまいました。それからというもの、今で言う典型的な出戻りモデラーとして、空いた時間にあいも変わらない稚拙な腕でちびちびと作り続けています。
I went to the small model shop well. I looked for the model kit which I wanted and bought a model kit with pocket money. I stopped the hobby of the model, but I was surprised at a great variety of things in a high quality afterwards when I watched a recent model at the model corner of the large household appliance general merchandising store. Then I brought back the hobby of the model. Even poorness enjoys modelling slowly slowly as ever now.
私の街の模型屋さんは２軒とももうありません。寂しい限りです。田舎とはいえ街自体も何十年も前とは様相も変わりました。途中震災もありましたから仕方がありません。出戻ってからも私の基本スタンスは、模型屋さんに通っての模型購入でした。模型屋さんで手に取って自分の目で商品を確認して買える安心感は、自分としていまでも価値あることと思っています。しかし出戻り以降、ばたばたと街の模型屋さんが消えていきました。通信販売の拡大と海外メーカの台頭が原因でしょう。世界的な模型産業としてはこのことは悪いことではないと思います。しかし、私のように模型屋さんに郷愁を感じて存在価値を認めるかたは他にもいらっしゃると思います。私は模型屋さんに通うことで、この文化が消えることに無力ではありますが無言の抵抗を続けてきました。これまで訪問した模型屋さんがその数日、数週間の後には閉店していたことがなんどもなんどもありました。これは残念な社会現象と私は感じています。
There is not those models shop anymore. I am very sad. The cityscape changed in the country with dozens of years ago. Because there was the East Japan great earthquake disaster, it is natural to change. My basic stance was the model purchase in the model shop even after reopening modelling. I think the security to confirm a model in a model shop, and to be able to buy to be an important thing. But a many models shop disappears in sequence recently. I think that this is caused by a mail order and the advance of the overseas maker. As model industry, I think this cause not to be bad. However, I think that there is the person loving model shops like me elsewhere. I continued the purchase in the model shop and came against extinction of this model culture. The model shop which I knew has closed later for several days. I think that this is a disappointing social phenomenon.
こども達が、作れもしないような模型の箱絵を見て、イマジネーションと好奇心を働かせている姿を、模型屋さんでは見ることができました。今度買ってもらおう、中学生になれば作れるかなあ、色って塗るのめんどくさいけど、塗るとかっこいいなあ、とか。模型屋さんはそうしたこども達の成長と社会との接点を作っていた場でもあると私は考えます。私は自分のこどもの時の思いをよみがえらせてくれる模型屋さんが大好きでした。乱雑に積み上げられた模型の箱を見るたびに、今でもいろいろなことを思いだします。
There was the figure that a child watched the box picture of the model for imagination and curiosity in the model shop. “Let’s be given this by father next at an opportunity”. “Can you make it if I become a little bigger?” . “The painting is troublesome”. “But I look cool when I paint it by oneself”. I think that the model shop was the growth of the child and a place of the points of contact to the society. I loved the model shop which revivified a juvenile mind. I still remember various things whenever I watch the box of a model piled up in a disorderly manner.
こどもの夢を育む模型屋さんがどんどん消えていきます。この先、模型という文化はどのようになっていくのでしょうか。
A model shop bringing up the dream of the child disappears steadily. Where will the model culture advance after this to?
