最初が肝心　-A good beginning makes a good ending.

最近入手したキット２点をパーツカッティングしました。このパーツリリース作業について少し詳しく書き留めます。パーツカッティングはモデリングでの最初の作業ですが、この作業を慎重に行わないと、本命の楽しみである組み立て以降のモチベーションの維持に影響します。そのためにも気持ちの焦りを抑えて、きれいに切断分離したいものです。
I cut the parts of the kit from a runner. I write it about this work. This work is the first work of the modeling. But, it is necessary to perform this work carefully. This is because the later assembling is not fun when it fails in this work. Therefore I hold down a fret of the feeling and want to cut it well.さて、Thunder ModelのCase VAIですが、ランナー２枚とタイヤパーツとエッチング、デカールの構成。パーツ状態は若干のバリと押し出しピンが散見されます。パーツが小さいので幸いヒケ、歪みは見られませんでした。Boxが固めの段ボールで、キャラメルBox形状でないので輸送上の破損にも強そうです。エンジンラジエターのルーバーが抜けています。さらに後輪ホイールの抜けも再現されています。
It is Case VAI of Thunder Model. Kit contents are two pieces of runners and tire parts and etching and decare. There are burr and a pushing out pin trace to the parts. The bolt is molded on a runner. I trim it with a cutter and use it. I think that it is easy to use this for assembling.タイヤはラバーの中空。ちょっと扱いづらそう。バンパープライマーかけて、処理する必要がありそうです。
The tire is hollow rubber. It seems to be hard to treat it a little. It seems to be necessary to handle it with a bumper primer.エンジン部分、後輪部分、前輪部分に分別。プラは、やや固めでパーツ断面はシャープですがニッパー作業ではパーツが小さいので飛びに注意する必要があります。このキットは軍用と民間用で機能的違いがありませんので、塗装とデカールで作り分けることが可能です。このような民間用途のある車両は作っていても楽しい気分にさせてくれます。
I separated it to an engine part, a rear wheel part, a front wheel part. This plastic is hardening slightly. Probably parts are easy to fly during work. This kit can make the tractor which is not military use with the painting and decare. I can make the vehicle of such a private use more happily.

もうひとつのキットであるICMのGerman Infantry in Gas Masks(1918)では、もう少しカッティングについて詳細に分析してみましょう。
I will analyze German Infantry in Gas Masks(1918) of the ICM about a cutting method.このキットのBoxが特徴的です。ボックスアートのある上蓋を抜くと、そこ蓋に更に蓋が付いています。上蓋が薄いので補強のための構造と思いますが、これも輸送時のパーツ保護には有効と思います。パーツが昔以上に微細なため、各社ともいろいろと考えています。

Because parts are small, it is devised not to be damaged.ランナーは４枚、内２枚は火器と装備品パーツで同じもの。ヘッドはガスマスク着用と未着用が入っています。ガスマスク着用はヘルメット含めて合計４パーツで構成。ガラス部はモールドで表現されており抜けていないので、ここは追加加工が必要なところです。化学兵器の非倫理感と無機質感を出すには必要な加工です。

I want to express a feeling of non-ethic of chemical munitions.今回はゲートが小さく、ニッパーだけで処理できそうなので、カッターは使用しませんでした。カッター使用にもちょっとしたテクニックがあります。それはまた別の機会に。

In this case it is the best to begin with the gate which is near to the tip of bayonet.バヨネットの先部分のゲートに刃を入れたが、縦に入れたためランナー側がV字に切れ残っている。これはパーツに食い込みが発生する可能性が高い非常に危険な刃の入れ方。左にスペースがあれば左側からニッパーの刃先を入れて、ゲートの薄い面を切断する方がいい。
I cut the first gate of bayonet, but the runner side is left in V because I cut it lengthwise. When it is this, parts are damaged. If space is to the left, I put the point of a sword of the nipper from the left and should cut the light aspect of the gate.これが危険な刃の向き。パーツにも近く、パーツへの食い込みの確度が高い。横からニッパーを入れるスペースがなければ極力パーツから刃を離すべき。ニッパーの刃先に近いところで切断すると、力が多くかかるため切断が不安定になる。そのため極力、刃の中心付近でパーツを切断する。また先端で切断するとパーツ飛びの可能性が高く、パーツ紛失の懸念がある。
The direction of this blade is bad. A blade is near to parts, and the parts are damaged surely. You should separate a blade from parts as much as possible aside without space. Cutting becomes unstable when I cut it at the tip of the blade because power is necessary. You should cut parts as much as possible near the center of the blade. In addition, parts fly when I cut it at the tip, and there is concern of the parts loss.刃先で処理した場合のミスパターン。フルカット後ゲート残りが発生。カッター等で再切断すれば問題はないが、複数回、刃を入れるのは失敗のもと。フルカット前に刃の位置は確認すること。
A failure example when I cut it at the tip of the blade. After a full cut, parts have been left to the gate. There is not the problem if I cut it with cutters again. But, it is the cause of the failure to put a blade several times. Confirm the position of the blade before a full cut.ゲートが複数ある場合は、最初に刃を入れるゲートを決めることが肝心。刃を入れる際に、刃の厚みでパーツに歪みが出る場合、歪みが最小の箇所に最初に刃を入れる。パーツ破損の危険が高い場合はランナーを引きながら刃とゲート破断残でパーツに圧がかからないようにする。写真のように最初の切断箇所は、次の切断で圧がかかっても逃げられるように垂直方向にずらしておく。
When there are multiple gates, it is important first to decide a gate to put a blade in. When I cut it, a distortion is given to the parts at the thickness of the blade. It prevents parts from being damaged by the pressure of a blade and the gate. I move the first cutting department like a photograph to the vertical direction not to be damaged even if pressurized by the next cutting.このキットも切断後、分別。各フィギュア毎に必要パーツと一緒に分け、残りのパーツはまとめました。これで切断はすべて完了。製作には必要パーツを選び、整形して組み立てれば効率的だ。
I separate these kits after cutting. I do it with parts every each figure. I put the remaining parts in a different bag. All the cutting is completed in this. If I choose the bag of necessary parts and assemble it, it is effective.この作業はモデリングの下準備ですが、慎重にやればこの作業だけで１時間以上かかることもあります。時間をかけても慎重に作業する必要があると私は思います。とはいえ、時間を費やすことに限界があるという人も多いはずです。モデリングを楽しむには避けて通れない下準備、そこに時間を費やさないで限られた時間を有効に使いたいと思いませんか？
This work is a preliminary arrangement of the modeling. But, it may take it only by this work more than one hour if I do it carefully. I think that it is necessary to work carefully even if I take time. However, there should be many people to have a limit in spending time. It is a preliminary arrangement not to be able to avoid, do you not want to use the limited time effectively to enjoy modeling without spending time on it?

上の写真は今回の２つのキットの切断パーツ含めてすべてを小さな箱に収納しました。設計図やカラーシート、ボックスアートはデータにすれば、この小さな箱だけですべて納まります。無駄に箱を積み上げる必要はありません。もっとモデリングを楽しみましょう。
I was able to put away all parts after the cutting in a small box of the top right corner of the upper photograph. An instruction sheet and color sheet, the box art are possible in electronic data. The parts fit all into this small box. It is not necessary to pile up a box idly. Let’s enjoy more modeling.
